APPI course Day 2:
Early morning and Spikey says “hi” in his own cute little way or so I believe.
Early morning de-brief by the ever smiling Sr. Instructor Ankush sir,
After the de-brief and simulation practice, we had a loud birthday celeberations and a quiet lunch.
Today the day felt slow but we had no clue what was in store for us at the site.
After a power nap, we boarded the traveller and sumos with the gliders and marched towards few hours of happiness.
Once reaching the spot, we did a self-inspection and realised that long hours of parawaiting is in store for the pilots. A top-bottom approach is doable but we weren’t here for that!
Two reasons we were waiting for the conditions to get better,
- Slow wind of 9-10Kmph
- North-West Crosswind
- Ridge soaring greed.
And some more
But after 4 hours of parawaiting, we finally flew.
After a good ridge soaring in turbulent conditions, I landed smoothly and ran for another top-bottom flight to catch the setting sun against the Tungi fort. Beautiful. Period.
After a long tiring day, head to base camp for a kickass chicken biryani. Hail Kaka this time.
Lesson: Parawaiting is a special skill set. read more about it here.
